Limiting Bandwidth (2 posts)

Is there a way to limit the bandwidth available to Fetch either through the program itself or through Apple preferences? Currently my large daily FTP downloads are hogging all of the bandwidth and causing the other office workers to have issues receiving emails etc. Help!

    Hi,

No, we're sorry, there isn't a setting in Fetch to limit the bandwidth that it uses, nor is there one in Mac OS X.

One option is to look into Sustainable Softworks's IPNetRouterX, which can be used to limit bandwidth usage, although it is a fairly technical tool.

Another option would be to set up your transfers so they happen in the evening or night, when less people are in the office. You can fairly simply set up Fetch and iCal to do automated transfers; see our Scheduling automatic transfers with iCal help topic for more information. If you try this and have questions, let us know.

    Thanks,
