    I seem to be stuck:
I can find no complete answer at your site.
What is "hostname"? What is USER user@host
    Is that also "hostname"?
    My PC is: IP 169.254.20.132
    subnet mask 255.255.0.0
Inetpub folder is in HEDGES-xlor03f7 (the name of my PC?)
Is the directory /Inetpub ? or no slash? or
    /Inetpub/ftproot ?
I tried to give the Mac IP 192.168.1.2
    I get proxy error . . ??? need more information ?????
    What information?
My name ROBERT HEDGES pswd RH is on each machine. (It's not online and cannot be breached - no firewall is needed )
I have crossover cable and actually got "appleshare" something w/ Fetch 3.01 installed in a control panel page before reinstall of WIN2000.
    Thanks. RH9

    Hi Robert,

Most users do not need to enter any settings in the proxy preferences; having a proxy server is unusual. In the Proxy (or Firewall) preferences of Fetch, you should set the "Proxy Type" pop-up menu to None and leave the rest of the fields relating to proxies blank.

In the Fetch New Connection dialog, the hostname is the address (for example, ftp.fetchsoftworks.com) or IP address of the server you want to connect to.

Note that the other machine must be running an FTP server in order for Fetch to be able to connect to it.

If the above does not help, please tell us about the task you are trying to accomplish, we may have further advice.

    Thanks,

    Scott McGuire
