    Hello all

I wonder if you could help me with a problem I am having with Fetch.

I work in a University and students logon to imacs(os 9.1)using Mac administrator.

I would like to know if it would be possible to configure fetch so that the username and password entered at the mac administrator login screen can automatically configure fetch so that it would use that username and password within fetch and at the same time change the default directory to the students home folder(held on a unix server)which is the same as their username.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and would give the mac users the same benefits as pc users.

    thanks again

I think you would have to write an AppleScript to do that. If the AppleScript could get the username and password of the currently logged-in user it could launch Fetch and open a connection to the user's home directory on the server. I don't know how you'd get the username and password, but for help with the Fetch part I'd recommend pressing the "Record" button in Script Editor and going through the steps manually.

    Thanks,

    Thanks Jim

At least I know where to start looking for answer. I will try a script and let the board know if I have any success.
