First off let me say I'm not a Mac user. I know how to get around and fix somethings (and break things) but that is about it.
Here's my problem. I've been running an FTP server for th past 4 years, no problems. All of my clients have been windows or unix clients. I now have mac clients that ar having problems. They can connect and login but never get the file listing the dog just keeps on running. on the sever side I can see all of the traffic and I can see where it hangs. The message on my screen shows:
    (5)150 Opening binary data connection
(5)426 File transfer aborted. [10038] Socket operation on non-socket

Is this problem on my end or the clients? This message happens either in or not in passive mode with this client. I'm stumped because any other client can login and work. I've tried the FAQ but nothing helped.

Could you ask a user to choose "Fetch Transcript" from the Window menu and send you the contents after attempting to connecting?

Do you know if Unix and Windows clients are able to use passive mode to connect to your server? Do you have a transcript?

    Thanks,
