    I am trying to connect to an FTP site I've been working with for weeks. Today I get the error:
    Net DB error 8

    The transcript says this:
    Fetch 5.2 (5C121) Intel running on Mac OS X 10.5.8 (9L30) Intel English
    StuffIt Engine 0x820, StuffIt SDK Version 10.1.1b1
    Partial serial FETCH55001-8ARL-AK7H T
    Connecting to ftp.lookfx.com port 21 (Mac OS X firewall is off) (2/11/10 10:07:44 AM)
    Update check skipped at 02/11/2010 10:09 AM (next check after 02/12/2010 12:22 AM)
    Connecting to ftp.lookfx.com port 21 (Mac OS X firewall is off) (2/11/10 10:11:22 AM)
    Connecting to ftp.lookfx.com port 21 (Mac OS X firewall is off) (2/11/10 10:13:23 AM)
    Connecting to ftp.lookfx.com port 21 (Mac OS X firewall is off) (2/11/10 10:17:23 AM)

    Help please!

    Hi Julia,

    That error indicates that the server is not responding when Fetch tries to contact it. The most likely explanation is that there is a problem with the server. You should contact the people or company who run it and report that their server is not responding to FTP connections, and ask them to look into the problem.

    P.S. I recommend that you update to Fetch 5.5.3, our latest version. It's a free update for you, and has a variety of new features and lots of bugfixes. Among them is a better error message for this situation! You can download it by going to the Fetch menu and choosing Check for Update, or by going to our website's home page and clicking the download link.

    Looks like the problem was solved on my client's end so I'm all good now. Thanks for the help. I'll look for the download now.
