very new at this...i posted my index file and an mp3 in my directory but when i try to view online, safari tells me i don't have the proper plugin to play mp3. (i can play the mp3 offline, in the browser) do I have to create a new file path for the mp3 in my index?

You need to check two things:

    1) Make sure the file name ends in ".mp3"
    2) Make sure your web server advertises .mp3 files as having the MIME type audio/mpeg

You will need to check with your web service provider about #2.

    Thanks,
