Server encountered error (10 posts)

    Trying to upload files now on my Mac iBook G4, but its not working.

    Keep getting a message that says:

    "Fetch could not put "index.html" because the FTP server encountered an error accessing a file or folder. If you entered a file name....check that it's correct. Server rsponded: Access is denied."

    Downloaded ver. 5.5 to see if would help, but no such luck.

    Very confusing. Not sure what's wrong. I'm at a public library on an open connection. Doesn't that have any influence. Please advise.

    Hi,

    These sorts of problems are usually caused either by your network connection, or possibly a problem with the server. Since you're at a public library, I'd guess something in the way their network or network hardware is configured is interfering with FTP; it that's the case, there's probably nothing you can do except find a different Internet connection. Have you been able to upload successfully at this location before?

    Hi there-
    I have encountered the same problem as this person - same message when I try to upload a file. I am on my home computer, and I have been able to access this site before and upload files without any issues. This time I am only able to upload a new file, but cannot change or delete a file that it already there. What's going on? I even tried turning off my firewall to see tif that worked, and yes, I did check the PASV mode box.

    Dear..."Help"

    since a few weeks I can not see, nor upload anything to my web page.

    All is paid and fully legal etc...This problems are happening on all PC's I can get my hands on. host is 66.147.242.88 - B;ueHost

    Any suggestions or help out there...

    Hi Ludwig,

    Could you describe the problem you are encountering in more detail?

    Are you having trouble connecting to your host with Fetch? If so, what error do you get?

    Or can you connect successfully, but you get an error when you try to upload?

    I am trying to upload something to a server. It seems that I am able to upload other files of the same type, but there is one particular file that won't let me upload. I have resaved the file, deleted what I thought were the issues, and it seems as though I still can't upload it. I am getting the same error as Daniel (from 3 years ago).

    Can someone plesae advise?

    Hi,

    The server is saying that you don't have permission to upload the file named "20958 Villa W". I would contact the server administrator and ask him or her to check the permission settings for your account.
