    Hi Linda,

Fetch is not a program for designing or creating webpages; it cannot help with that. It's a program for transferring webpages (or other kinds of files) that you have created in another program from your Macintosh to a server (another computer on the Internet).

For an explanation of what Fetch does and doesn't do, and for pointers about what you need to upload webpages, I suggest reading our What is Fetch? and What do I enter in the hostname, username, and password fields? help topics.

After you do that, if you're looking for info on how to use Fetch, we recommend you start with the introductory Fetch tutorial.

Please let us know if you have further questions after looking those over.

    Thanks,

I knew I could not build the site in fetch.
For the connection the Hostname being our web site example www.abc123.org
with my site password. If so its not taking it. Or is the host who I have the site with such as yahoo or allwebco??

    Hi Linda,

Okay, I apologize, we do get some beginning users who misunderstand Fetch's role so I wanted to clarify that, just in case.

Often the hostname you need to enter is your domain name, but it varies depending on the hosting provider, so we can't tell you for sure. The best thing to do is to contact the hosting provider and ask them what you should enter for your hostname, username, and password - only they can tell you exactly what you need to know. If you are entering what they tell you, you should ask them to investigate why it's not working for you.

Please let us know if you have further questions.

    Thanks,

    Scott McGuire
