We are running through Proxy Server 2.0 on NT here and I can't get the Macs through even though the PC's work o.k. I am finally connecting with v.4.0 but Fetch continues to run at "Getting File List" until I abort it.

    Below is a transcript:

One thing to check is whether your server administrator has installed some necessary bug fixes, namely NT 4 Service Pack 5 and Proxy Server 2 Service Pack 1. See

    http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q238/3/75.ASP

    for details.

Another thing to try is unchecking the "Use passive mode transfers (PASV)" box in the Firewall section of Fetch Preferences.

I turned off PASV mode and I got this result:

    230-
    230 *
    SYST
    215 UNIX Type: L8
    PWD
    257 "/" is cwd
    MACB ENABLE

    257 "/" is cwd
    PWD
    257 "/" is cwd
    ftp_list: -1 (state == GETTING_LIST)
    NOOP
    200 Still Alive
    QUIT
    221 Good Bye

This ends up with a Fetch "Error Number -1" being generated. Also, our NT server and Proxy is service-packed to the teeth.

Do you mind posting the complete transcript with PASV turned off?

    Thanks,

The only suggestion I can think of now is to double-check the version of the proxy server; this looks like the sort of error people would get before that proxy service pack came out.
