Suddenly, Fetch is slow and stalls (8 posts)

Starting a few days ago, I've experienced problems with Fetch 5. Uploads have slowed down a LOT sometimes and it's been stalling out on "getting file list" sometimes. I downloaded 5.7.4 and installed it but the problems have persisted. But both problems are intermittent. Sometimes it's its old snappy and efficient self. For example, it'll stall out of getting the file list. I'll quit out of it and relaunch and it's fine.... for a while. I can't find any pattern or specific cause. Could this have something to do with my server? Or some other outside cause? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,

That sounds like an issue with the server or the Internet connection. Has anything changed in your setup recently?

    Thanks,

Nope. I updated my website design software the other day and uploaded a whole new site, but the problems predated that.

I'm sorry I can't be more helpful. Transient problems like this are difficult to diagnose. If there's a particular issue that keeps happening please contact me at http://fetchsoftworks.com/fetch/feedback . I'll take a closer look and see what I can figure out.

    Thanks,

Thanks, Jim. Will do. Much appreciated.

FYI, my workaround is basically to do one upload, quit, then do the next task. It seems to have settled into a pattern of allowing me to do one thing at the old speeds and then if I go to the Go menu and try to move to another folder, it just hangs.

I'm sorry -- that has to be very annoying. Do let me know if you see a recurring pattern to the failures.

    Thanks,

Hi Jim, Well, I finally called web.com, my site's host, and yes, they have a "known issue." The guy I spoke to was predictably brusque, having no doubt been cursed out by all the users who've spent hours trying to figure out what the hell was going on. Anyway, no E.T.A. concerning a fix and naturally no offer of a credit for the time they have not been able to deliver the contracted service. In any case, Fetch is not the problem. Thanks for your time.
