Fetch Softworks is celebrating the new school year with the "Take Fetch Back to School" essay contest. Students, teachers, and other school employees in the U.S. can win an Apple MacBook or iPod nano by sharing how they use Fetch in their academic work.

Fetch, the original Mac FTP file transfer program, has been a mainstay of schools and colleges since its first release at the start of the 1989 fall term. It's the perfect tool for submitting an assignment, updating a course website, downloading a data set, sending a course catalog to the printers, and countless other academic tasks.

This back-to-school season, Fetch Softworks is asking its users to describe how Fetch helps them reach their educational goals. From Monday, September, 10, 2007 to Friday, September 21, 2007, Fetch Softworks will accept contest entries at http://fetchsoftworks.com/back-to-school. Note: The contest is limited to residents of the continental United States, Alaska, and Hawaii.

Contest judges will look for the most creative, impressive and unusual ways that entrants take advantage of Fetch's combination of features, reliability and ease of use. One grand prize winner will receive a new Apple MacBook (Black), a retail value of $1,499, plus $750 in cash. Four runners-up will win Apple iPod nanos (8GB, video), $199 values, plus $100 in cash, and all five winners will receive a Fetch plush toy. The winners will be announced on Tuesday, October 2, 2007. Contest rules can be found at http://fetchsoftworks.com/back-to-school.

From the very beginning, Fetch has been available free of charge to schools and charities, in order to support their educational and benevolent missions. The application form for free licenses is online at http://fetchsoftworks.com/edapply. The latest release, Fetch 5.2, is a Universal binary with support for secure file transfers using SFTP and FTPS, as well as FTP. For more information about Fetch, visit http://fetchsoftworks.com.

    Thanks,
