Toolbar thoughts (3 posts)

    Jim,

Here's some thoughts on the toolbar for pondering. ;)

I'm finding that it would be useful if I had an "Up" button on the toolbar.

Sure, there's the "Back" button, but I can never keep track of where it will lead me. I never know where "Back" is. But, I _do_ know where I am in the hierarchy and I often want to go "Up." An "Up" button would also be much quicker than using the "Path" menu, which is totally useful just cumbersome if I only want to go up one level.

Now that I think about it, I don't think I've ever used the "Back" button and instead use the "Recent" list if I need to quickly go to a specific directory.

I also liked the fuller path listing in the title bar as in the old version. I found it reassuring that I was mucking in the right sub-directory of the right directory.

Hope this insight helps and thanks for listening!

Thanks for the feedback. You can customize the toolbar (choose Customize Toolbar from the View menu) and replace the Back or Path buttons with the Parent button. Clicking the Parent button takes you "up", and you can drag files or folders to it to move them up a folder level.

We'll think about your path suggestion.

    Thanks,

And I thought I had thoroughly checked the toolbar customization - doh!

    Thanks for the tip!
