I have updated my website on macro flash 8 and have used the put to put it on the server. But it still shows the old version of the website. I have talked to our server people and they said that there isn't a special folder to stick the updated file in. I know that it has replaced the old file too, because I brought it down and looked at it. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG? What else could the problem be?

    Hi,

It's possible that the page has been updated and your web browser is just showing you an out-of-date cached version.

    Try this:

Assuming you are using Safari, choose "Empty Cache" from the Safari menu. Then go to your webpage with the updates. If it still isn't updated, choose "Reload Page" from Safari's View menu and see if that helps.

If neither of those helps, let us know and we can try to help further.

    Thanks,

Thank you for your response. I tried all of that and it's still not updating on the website. On the server every file that I have opened related to this is updated as well. I read something about it having to be in a specific folder... godaddy said it didn't for them, but is it possible that it does. The website couldn't be up and running in the old version if it's not saved on the server somewhere, could it? Thank you for helping.... I know it's kind of a bone head question. I know it has to be something small-ish and I don't know what else to try.

    Hi,

Just to make sure I'm understanding this correctly, in your web brower, you see the new version of every file you updated, except for this one problem file?

Or do you not see updated versions of any of the files in a web browser?

    Thanks,

    Scott McGuire

It doesn't show the updates on the web browser, just in the fetch server window.

    Hi,

Well, that does sound like the new updates went to some other folder other than the one that holds the existing website.

This can be a little hard to figure out for us to figure out remotely, but we'll try.

Two pieces of information would be helpful.

Could you tell us the address (URL) of your website?

And could you please do the following?

    * Quit Fetch, if it's running.
    * Open Fetch again.
    * Connect to the server you've been uploading the new files to.
    * Then choose Fetch Transcript from the Window menu, copy the entire contents of the transcript window, and paste them into a reply to this message.

    Thanks,

    Hi,

Looking at the transcripts, I believe the problem is that you are uploading a new file named "home.fla", but your webpage is looking for - and displaying - a file named "home.swf" instead.

What you need to do is to save the "home.fla" file as a .swf file, and try uploading the .swf file. Web browsers generally cannot display .fla files. For more about the difference between .fla and .swf files, you should consult Macromedia Flash's help or manual.

Please let us know if this helps solve the problem or not.

    Thanks,

    Scott McGuire
