Updating Website Help! (9 posts)

    Hello Fetch,
    I have not been able to update my website in a week.
    I'm using I-web to create the content of my site. I open fetch and click on "put" and add the content of the site, from the folder where I published my site in I-web.
    After Fetch works a few minutes, I go to my site, but do not see any of the changes.
    Please help!

    Hi Michal,

    The first thing to try is to empty your web browser's cache; your web browser may be "remembering" out of date versions of your webpages.

    To do this in Safari:

    * Go to the Safari menu, and choose Empty Cache.
    * Safari will ask you if you're sure. Click the Empty button.
    * Then go to your website address, and view the pages to see if they look okay.

    To do this in Firefox 3 or later:

    * Go to the Firefox menu, and choose Preferences.
    * Click the Advanced icon to show the Advanced options pane.
    * Click the Network tab inside the pane.
    * In the Offline Storage section, click the Clear Now button.

    Then visit your website again and check to see if you see the updates.

    If you don't, the problem may be that you've uploaded your website to the wrong folder on your server.

    The next thing to try is to follow the instructions in our help topic using Fetch with iWeb and see if that fixes the problem.

    If you're still having problems after trying these suggestions, let us know and we'll try to advise further.

    Thanks, I ended up publishing it to an entirely different folder and it worked. I also cleared my cache, thanks!

    hi Scott,
    I'm having the same issues again. I've cleared my cache and created a new folder on my desktop where I published my latest version of my Iweb site.
    I'm getting a "Disconnected" message, or, after I "Put" my site into Fetch, it updates, but then is not updated on the site itself.

    Hi Michal,

    In order to advise, we'll need some more information.

    First, what is the address of your website?

    Second, please do the following:

    * Quit Fetch, if it's running.
    * Open Fetch again.
    * Connect to your server.
    * Go to the View menu, and choose Refresh.
    * Then go to the Window menu, and choose Fetch Transcript.
    * Copy the entire contents of the transcript window, and paste them into a reply to this message.

    We'll take a look and see if we can advise.
