Upgrade Issues? (2 posts)

Since upgrading to v 5.1.1, I have experienced some problems that I don't remember having before. Maybe someone can shed some light on them.

1)When trying to upload PDF files located on a Windows 2000 server, I sometimes get an unexpected file name showing up in the destination Fetch window. It's usually something like "ftp***.tmp". anybody familiar with that issue?

2)When downloading a text file from a vendors ftp, the files now say "TextEdit" document instead of "Text" documents. These are tagged text files (Xpress Tags) that flow into a Quark document. We downloaded some test files in September 07 that worked fine. Now, if I try to download the same files from the same ftp, they have to be converted to "Text Only" files in MS Word.

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

I'd check two things for this: if you click the Refresh button after the upload is finished, do the names correct themselves to what you expect?

Also, when you use the Put command, make sure the setting of the "If a file already exists:" menu is set to "Replace existing file". Don't use "Pick a different name".

("Pick a different name" asks the server to give your file a unique name to make sure it doesn't replace an existing file; unfortunately, many servers don't pick sensible names.)

Let us know if neither of those fixes this problem.

I'm not sure I understand the problem, so I'd like some more information. Even though the text files say they are "TextEdit" documents, they should still be plain text files, and should import into Quark just the same as before. Is that not the case?

What filename extension do these files have?
