    Hi,

    This has been a frustration with Fetch for months and months. I have reported this before, but with no satisfactory resolution. Almost every time I use fetch to upload to my web server, it freezes with the 'Putting File' dialogue. This is NOT related to my web connection, because if I use Filezilla, the upload is lightening fast, and NEVER freezes. However, I prefer the interface of Fetch, and after spending money buying it, would prefer that it worked correctly. This problem has persisted since upgrading from an older PowerMac to my now faster Mac Pro.

    This is so disappointing as it's such a great piece of software. Any ideas????

    Thanks

    Hi Bob,

    I'm sorry you're having trouble with Fetch, and we'll try to figure out what is going on and fix it if we can.

    I checked and it looks like you contacted us once last year about a problem, we asked for more information, and did not hear back from you - unfortunately, for problem descriptions such as yours, we cannot propose resolutions without further information. If our reply did not reach you, I apologize.

    So, we'd like some more information about the problem.

    Which version of Fetch are you using, and which version of Mac OS X do you have?

    Next, when does Fetch freeze? Just after you click the Put button? Or after you select some files in the Put dialog? Or after the upload starts?

    Thanks,

    Scott McGuire

    Hi thanks for the reply. I'm running OSX 10.6.3 on a Mac pro 2 x 2.26 Quad core Intel Xeon with 16Gb Ram. I'm on Fetch 5.6.

    The problem occurs when selecting files to upload and clicking PUT. The result differs each time. Sometimes it will upload some files then freeze, other times it will upload 80-90% of files and then freeze. Sometimes it will freeze for ages and then continue, other times it just freezes permanently.

    Does that help?

    Thanks!

    Hi Bob,

    Thanks for the additional information.

    The next time you run into this problem, could you please do the following?

    Even though Fetch appears to be frozen, let it sit for 2 minutes and see if it unfreezes before continuing on to the next step. After Fetch either stays frozen, or completes your transfer, send us your Fetch.log.

    To find the Fetch.log file:

    * Click the desktop background to select the Finder.
    * In the Finder, go to the "Go" menu and choose "Home"
    * Open the Library folder
    * Open the Logs folder
    * Find the file named "Fetch.log"

    Attach it to an email to bugs@fetchsoftworks.com .

    The file may be somewhat large, so you may want to compress it before sending it to us. (Select the Fetch.log file, go to the File menu, choose Compress, and send the resulting zip file instead.)

    And we'll take a look and see if we can figure out why Fetch is freezing.

    Thanks,

    Scott McGuire
