Upload seems to work, doesn't upload (4 posts)

    Hello, I have been trying to upload a 58.1 kb swf file. I just upgraded to 5.5.3 and tried again, but it's always the same with this file. It looks like it uploads in all of one or two seconds, but the file does not function on the site, as if it doesn't exist. I know it's not uploading the file, although it claims it's there in all its 58.1 kb glory in two seconds. I've successfully uploaded other swf files previously, say 35 kb or 84 kb, and they took several minutes to upload, but they actually play on the site. All the files play equally well on my computer.

    I have uploaded using "Automatic" and Binary (Raw Data), re-created the file from scratch the same as the others, over and over, tried and re-tried everything I can think of, and it always uploads in this same fashion. Do you have any idea what's going on? I realize this may not be a Fetch problem, but I have to rule that out if I can. Thanks for your help.

    BTW, I don't see a fetch.log in my home/library/logs file, or anywhere on my computer.

    Hi Nancy,

    If Fetch doesn't give you an error, then the server told Fetch that the upload had been successful. Either that means the file uploaded successfully, or the server gave Fetch the wrong information.

    If you send us a Fetch transcript, we can take a look and try to figure out what might be going on. To do this:

    * Quit Fetch, if it's running.
    * Open Fetch again.
    * Connect to your server.
    * Try uploading the problem file again.
    * After Fetch says the upload finished, go to the Window menu, and choose Fetch Transcript.
    * Copy the entire contents of the transcript window, and paste them into a reply to this message.

    Thanks,

    Thanks for the reply. The problem was not in Fetch, as another attempt was successful. It uploaded in a flash (no pun intended), though it was 58.3 kb, just like before, but this time the swf actually played.

    Your suggestion for finding the transcript has given me a place to look for a solution if I experience this problem in the future. Please consider this problem solved.

    Thank you for your help!
