    I am having trouble putting a folder onto a ftp site in Fetch. I have several pdf files in a folder I have created on my desktop. When I try to put the folder the choose button is grayed out and if I try to drag the folder on into the site I get a box saying a directory cannot be created. I'm using Mac OS X v.10.4.10. How do I get my folder on the site???

    Hi Tom,

    We'd like some more information in order to help you.

    Which version of Fetch are you using?

    And what is the exact error message you got when you tried to drag the folder into the site?

    Thanks,

    Dear Scott,

    Thanks for replying. I am using Fetch 4.0.3. When I try to drag the folder with pdf files from my desktop into the ftp site the response is: Server response "name of folder": can't create directory. I tried using the option key which makes the "put files" button become "put folder" but it will still not take the folder. It is weird that it will take individual pdf files but not a folder containing the same files.

    Hi Tom,

    Thanks for the additional information. It's possible that the server does not like the name of the folder (that's a common cause of servers refusing to take the folder).

    Does the folder have any spaces or other characters besides letters, numbers, hyphens, or underscores in it? If so, you might try renaming it to remove them and see if that fixes the problem.

    If that doesn't help, if you could send us a Fetch transcript, we might be able to figure out what the problem is.

    To do this:

    * Quit Fetch.
    * Open Fetch again.
    * Connect to your server.
    * Try uploading the folder by dragging it to the Fetch window.
    * After you get the error, choose Fetch Transcript from the Window menu, copy the entire contents of the transcript window, and paste them into a reply to this message.

    We'll take a look and see if we can figure out what's going on.

    Thanks,

    Scott,

    I made a test folder and eliminated the spaces I had put in the folder's name. I was able to put it on the site by dragging. Hopefully this is the answer. Thanks so much for your help.
