My first guess is that you are uploading in non-PASV mode (i.e. the "Use passive mode transfers (PASV)" box in the Firewall section of Fetch Preferences is unchecked), and there's a bug in your router that is throwing away the first three characters of the STOR command (the command Fetch sends to start an upload), and so the server is complaining that it doesn't understand the "R" command.
So first I would try checking the "Use passive mode transfers (PASV)" box in the Firewall section of Fetch Preferences. If that does not help I would choose "Fetch Transcript" from the Window menu and post the contents with your reply; that information may help clarify the problem.
Thanks,
Jim Matthews

To Jim Matthews,
Thanks for your help. This is what I did. I tossed the fetch preference and set my preference to "use Passive mode Transfers(PASV) box.
I got the follow:
error: an internet preference (Use Pasive FTP) could not be reset.
This is the message I got from the "Fetch Transcript"

It sounds like you tried to change the setting in some other program (the transcript shows Fetch still using non-PASV transfers). You want to check the "Use passive mode transfers (PASV)" check box in the Firewall section of Fetch Preferences. To do that choose "Preferences..." from the Customize menu in Fetch, then click on the Firewall tab, and then check the box and click OK.
Thanks,
Jim Matthews

Does anyone have any idea what this message means "R not understood"?????
File uploads but at the end of upload the above message is received.
The file is on the server but does not work. I have deleted it rebuilt my site again, and again, but to no avail.
As usual my ISP is NO help.
