uploading site -- problems with folders (7 posts)

    I have changed my site and am re-uploading a new one. Placement of folders and everything is exactly the same, but now Fetch doesn't see the folders and won't load them; it just keeps trying over and over. I attach a transcript to demonstrate...

    The problem seems to start with the directory named "Templates" -- the FTP server is letting you create it, but it won't let you enter it. That may be a permission problem, or it may be a problem with the place where you're creating it. Are you sure you are supposed to put it in the / directory and not either the /artbyrt.com or /www.artbyrt.com directories?

    Ooops! I didn't mean to include all the transcript. "templates" is just the name of a folder and I have several of them in my site. As I said, the design of the site is virtually identical to previous design -- which went up without a hitch. Now suddenly, the folders aren't permitted. Why?

    I finally solved the problem and I'm not sure that I can explain how... when fetch opens it places in its transfer window a folder with the name of the host site. I was mistakenly using this window to drag and drop all my folders that were destined to uploading -- but what I finally worked out was that if I doubled clicked on the folder it would open to another transfer window with the correct directory (folder) and that if I dragged all my folders into this window -- bingo!
