uploading small files (6 posts)

I find when uploading small files such as thumbnails for a web page that Fetch will upload 20 or so of the files very quickly & it then "hangs". The dog just runs and no more happens. This means I have to upload 20 files a a time which becomes a bore. If I upload larger files there is no problem.

    I use ADSL to upload.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,

Are you using Fetch 4.0.3 or Fetch 5?

If you are using Fetch 4.0.3, make sure the "Use passive mode transfers" checkbox in the Firewall pane of the Preferences is checked, and try transferring again.

If it is already checked or that does not solve the problem, you may want to try out Fetch 5 and see if it works better for you.

If you are already using Fetch 5, the next time it stalls, could you choose "Fetch Transcript" from the Window menu, and post the contents of the Fetch Transcript window here? We'll look at it and see if we can offer more advice.

    Thanks,

When the "Use Passive mode" is checked it will not upload any files. Will only do it when unchecked. I'll try fetch 5

Please do try Fetch 5 - we made improvements in handling this sort of problem in Fetch 5. As I mentioned, if you still see the problem in Fetch 5, please let us know and post a transcript for us to look at.

    Thanks,

Have downloaded fetch 5 and still throws up the same problem; gets stuck after uploading 20 small files; larger files no problem.

    Hi Kit,

Thanks for the followup - sorry to hear that. Could you make the problem happen again, and then choose "Fetch Transcript" from the Window menu, and post the contents of the Fetch Transcript window here? Or if you are not comfortable posting the transcript here, please send it to bugs at fetchsoftworks dot com.

    Thanks,
