Uploads arrive but Fetch shows as stalled (6 posts)

Fetch 5.02 uploads files to the destination and shows all bits transferred, then sits for awhile untill it shows as "stalled". If I quit Fetch then restart and return to the same server, the files show up in the directory as they should.

I'm not much for the deep-tech underpinnings, just a put-er and a get-er. Have I missed a setting or is the server I'm going to hinky?

    Thanks!

The most common cause of this is that you are behind a NAT device (often built into routers and hubs) and the transfer has really finished, but the NAT device has blocked the information telling Fetch that it's done.

To work around this problem, make sure the "Use passive mode transfers (PASV)" checkbox in the General Preferences pane is checked, and also check the "Contact server during long transfers" checkbox in the Obscure Preferences pane.

Please let us know if these do not solve the problem. Thanks,

Thanks for the reply Scott. I checked my preferences and the PASV item was checked but the "...long transfers" was not. I'm scheduled for another file transfer later today so I'll get a chance to see if that fixes things.

Is there a preferred NAT setting? I think there's a few options, like NAT 1, NAT 2, etc. I beleive my ADSL modem provides NAT, but I'm not sure there's much I can do to change whatever NAT setting it makes.

No, fiddling with those NAT settings probably wouldn't make a difference, so you should just leave them at their defaults.

I and many colleagues have encountered this problem (upload/download runs OK then appears to hang upon its completion), and this tip has solved it. Thank you! May I suggest that the tip is included in the FAQs?

    Hi Alistair,

Glad to hear the tip worked for you. It is actually already in the FAQs - #3 in the Troubleshooting FAQ, "The progress bar fills the entire circle, but the transfer never finishes." Did the title not sound like it described this problem? If so, perhaps we need to consider a better title.

    Thanks,
