    Good Day,
I a Data Support Manager for an Intergrated Service Provider, we have customer running an FTP server (NT 4.0 Service PACK 6, connected to a LinkSYS router firewall and an Adtran Router with a 384Kbps Internet Pipe. I verified that there are no Layer1 issues caused by a flakey SPAN.

Our customer's clients access their FTP server using Fetch, and are able to access the server but are unable to upload files. They either get a message that says you do not have rights or just get the running dog

I have a PC and do not have any problems, either uploading or downloading files through either my company network or my cable connection.

I also tested using tracert, and extended ping to both the Ethernet port of the router, and the untrusted port of the firewall and could not find a problem

I spoke with the Router's manufacturer (Adtran) and they report no known issues. I checked the router's error log and the IP statistics which are within an acceptable range.

Although our demarc ends at the Ethernet Port of the router I would very much like to assist our customer in solving this problem. I would like to suggest for testing purposes that they remove the firewall(This firewall is not provided by my company) and connect the FTP server directly to our router, to elminate the firewall as the possible source of the problem.

Just so you know they did not experience this problem with another carrier using a Netopia router, but they did not have the LinkSys firewall connected at that time.

Any suggestions you can give me will be very welcome.

It sounds like the Fetch users have at least two problems -- the message about not having rights is probably a separate issue from the dog running forever problem. It would be helpful to see the contents of the Fetch Transcript window for either of these problems. To open that window choose "Fetch Transcript" from the Window menu.

    Thanks,
