You should be able to drag the "Fetch 4.0.3 Folder Store" folder from the desktop to the Applications icon in the toolbar of any Finder window. That will put it in the Applications folder.
Thanks,

The same problem happens to me, yet it unzips into a file on my Desktop called "UCB Fetch 4.0.2 Edu Installer." I try to initiate the Installer, but it doesn't allow me to place Fetch in any folder. I ony get the following error message: "Error creating file. 1008:9-5000 Access error denied. You do not have enough access privileges for this installation." I am logged in as administrator.
Thanks... Kevin

Yes - I've experimented dragging the unpacked and functioning program from the Desktop into many different folders just to test, and the mouse cursor always changes to a "Not allowed" symbol (I don't see that error message).
Interestingly, though, the one folder where I /can/ drop it is Applications:Installers - but I don't think it's meant to live there!

kdurkin: You appear to have a special installer created for your university. You should contact your university help desk for support for that installer.
perfectpitch: It sounds like the permissions are messed up on your computer so that you can't move files around. I would recommend running Disk Utility, specifically the Repair Permissions function.
Thanks,

Dear Jim,
Don't know how I'd managed to mess up permissions in the first place, but there was certainly a long log file at the end of the process - and more importantly, Fetch is now sitting obediently in his Applications basket, sorry, folder! :-)
Merci beaucoup,
Peter

Hi there,
I downloaded 4.0.3 as a StuffIt file from the website. It automatically unzips into a folder "Fetch 4.0.3 Folder Store" on the desktop. Try as I might I can't find out how to either install Fetch in the Applications folder (the logical place for it) or to drag it into the Applications folder (wouldn't have dared in Windows but these Macs are supposed to be forgiving creatures!).
I'm running OSX 10.2.6 and am logged in as an administrator, so install permissions shouldn't be a problem. StuffIt seems not to give me any choice about where it installs.
Any ideas, please?
Thanks,
