Hi, I just bought 5.77 and now Fetch does not work at all on my computer. I see all of my old sites from my previous version of Fetch but I can not connect to anything. I keep getting this message: :The action could not be completed because of an error has occurred. (Mac OS error -25293). Very frustrating. Any suggestions?

Following up on my own question/concern. After 2 restarts I think I'm good, all is working. Thank you!

    Hi,

It looks like there's an error with the Keychain, the part of Mac OS X that stores passwords. Deleting the password in question might help fix this problem. Here's what you would do:

    1) Choose Utilites from the Go menu in the Finder
    2) Open the Keychain Access application
    3) Type the hostname or username for your FTP account in the search field, to narrow down the list
    4) Double-click the entry for your FTP account
    5) Click the Show password checkbox; you will be prompted for your Mac's system password
    6) Make a note of the password
    7) Go back to the list of Keychain Access passwords, and choose Delete from the Edit menu (or hit the delete key on your keyboard) to delete that entry; you'll be asked to confirm your decision
    8) Try opening Fetch and connecting again; you may be prompted for the password

Please let me know if that does not fix the problem.

    Thanks,

Would this be necessary on every shortcut? Seems unlikely an os error would cause every fetch ftp password to be damaged and no other passwords

It does seem unlikely, but I've heard reports of other applications being affected as well. Some users have had luck with a simpler procedure:

    * Quit Fetch, if it's running.
    * In the Finder, choose Utilities from the Go menu
    * Open the Disk Utility application
    * Select the startup disk in the list on the left
    * Click the "First Aid" button, and then the Run button
    * Once it's done, try Fetch again.

    Thanks,

10.13.3 passwords NOT being saved in shortcuts. Have done everything you suggested here. Running 5.7.7 and never had this problem in previous versions. Been a user for more years than I can remember but it's pretty much since you first launched this app. LOL Thanks!

    Hi Michael,

Do you get an error when you try to save a password?

    Thanks,

No error. When I reopen the shortcut it prompts me for
Password. I add password and click add to keychain
Quit program, relaunch, password for shortcut is missing.

Ran diskfirstaid no change in behavior.

Do you see the password listed in Keychain Access?

I was having this same problem and found some advice on an Apple support page. Restart in safe mode--hold down the shift key as soon as the Mac starts, and keep it down until the Apple symbol shows up. Go to Fetch and open a shortcut. It will prompt for the password you use when first login. After that when you open a shortcut you will be prompted for that same password word--it enables access to Keychain.

Then restart as usual. When I did this, everything was fine again.

I got this from an Apple forum and it fixed the problem for me:
    1. go to Keychain Access app in the Utilities folder
    2. under the File menu, choose *Lock Keychain "Login"*
    3. go to the File menu again and choose *Unlock Keychain "Login"*
    Love your product!!
