Hi,
To open the preferences, go to the Fetch menu and choose Preferences.
(If you're using Fetch 4, you need to click Cancel in the New Connection dialog before you can choose Preferences; that step is not necessary with Fetch 5.)
The "Use passive mode transfers" checkbox is in the General pane of the Preferences in Fetch 5, or in the Firewall pane of the Preferences in Fetch 4.
Thanks,
Scott McGuire

When I click Cancel in the New Connection dialog, everything disappears. The 'dog' goes back to its dock and I am left without a console. So I cannot even go to the Fetch menu.
Help again.
Thanks.

Hi. I figured it out. I'm new to Mac, for I apologize for missing the obvious. Thanks for your specific help.

Hi Jann,
You are welcome, and no need to apologize - I know I've missed the "obvious" more than once!
Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.
Best,
Scott McGuire

I click on the fetch dog icon, and all that pops up the the connection dialog box. Where's the console to set perferences and check on passive mode?
Have compassion on this newbie!
