    Hi,

    Is there a feature in Fetch that would let me set it up to automatically back up to my server?- I am not sure where to look to see if this is possible.

    thanks,

    Hi Amy,

    We have a help topic that describes how to use Fetch with Automator and iCal to automatically transfer files every day, which may do what you want:

    http://www.fetchsoftworks.com/FetchWebHelp/Contents/Tutorial/ScheduledTransfers.html

    While there is not a built-in feature in Fetch to do this, the iCal stuff is pretty easy to set up and works well when you have a well-defined set of files and folders you'd like to upload to the server every day.

    However, while we feel that Fetch is an excellent client for transferring files to FTP and SFTP servers when you need to do that (such as uploading webpages to your web server), Fetch is not really designed or meant to be a program for backing up your entire hard drive to a server. There are other programs and services that are better suited for that purpose.

    Please let us know if you have further questions.

    Thanks,

    I am having some difficulties. Fetch shuts down whenever the folder that I am backing up has an old Claris Works File in it. Any clues what that would be?

    thanks again! I am working on the mirroring but this is really giving me trouble.

    I am having trouble with FETCH shutting down. It seems to happen when it comes to an old claris works document. Is that strange? But that is what I have narrowed it down to at this point.

    thanks for any clues.

    Hi Amy,

    That does sound odd.

    When you say "Fetch shuts down" do you mean it disconnects from the server, or gives you an error message, or quits unexpectedly?

    What happens when you try to upload just that Claris Works file by itself?

    Thanks,

    Everything just closes - no message or anything - at first I thought it was the size of the folders I wanted to upload but I have been uploading smaller pieces but it stops - closes up shop and has no message when the file is an old (I do mean old) clarisworks file comes up.

    I am talking to the person at the server I am backing up to also but this is a puzzlement.

    If I try just that file it does the same thing.

    Hi Amy,

    Most likely this is a problem on the Mac end, not the server end.

    Could you please tell us which version of Mac OS X and which version of Fetch you are using?

    Thanks,

    Scott McGuire

    I am using Tiger Server software and I downloaded Fetch 5.3 just today.

    Hi Amy,

    Could you mail your Fetch.crash.log to us so we can try to figure out what the problem is?

    To find the Fetch.crash.log file:

    * Choose "Home" from the Go menu in the Finder
    * Open the Library folder
    * Open the Logs folder
    * Open the CrashReporter folder

    Please send it to:

    bugs at fetchsoftworks dot com

    Thanks,
