Yes, that error means that your host does not support changing permissions using FTP. You should contact them to find out what they do support.

hello,
I'm trying to change permissions to a directory and a file. But when I go under Get Info, I get this:
SITE CHMOD 666 formdata.csv
500 Syntax error, command unrecognized.
ftp_cmd/ftp_user: 2,-30000 (state == SETTING_PERMS)
Is this a problem with my host? What's going on?
Thanks in advance!
