Hi Chris,
Could you try connecting again, and then chose "Fetch Transcript" from the Window menu and post the contents of that window? If you prefer, you can send it by email to bugs@fetchsoftworks.com.
We'll take a look and see what we can figure out.
Thanks,
Jim Matthews

Hi,
Thanks for posting that transcript. It looks like the VPN is blocking FTP connections. You can test that theory by trying a different FTP client (while connected with your VPN). For example:
1) Choose "Utilities" from the Go menu in the Finder
2) Open Terminal
3) Type:ftp truedigital.co.uk
and then hit the Return key
Could you send what you see when you do that?
Thanks,
Jim Matthews

Hmm, that's surprising. I can't think of a reason why the command-line FTP client would be able to connect but Fetch would not.
What VPN software are you using? Is there any way we could try using Fetch over your VPN?
Thanks,
Jim Matthews

Sorry, my mistake, I was connected to the network when I did that. I disconnected and connected via my 3g dongle, connected vpn and tried it again. This is what I got:
ftp: Can't connect to `94.236.22.146': Operation timed out
ftp: Can't connect to `truedigital.co.uk'

Just to add, I'm using the vpn software built into Snow Leopard.

Thanks for the follow-up. I would recommend talking to the network administrator about this problem, since the problem is not specific to Fetch.

Hi
I have various ftp sites that I use for work that are restricted to access from my work network.
At home I use a vpn to access the work network for files etc which is all fine but I cannot get Fetch to connect when the vpn is connected - it just hangs for ages and then says the server dropped the connection. This never happens when I'm in work - it connects instantly so, in theory it should be the same over vpn.... but it just isn't.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Chris
