fetch has worked on my computer (mac os 10.2.8) uploading to other hosts. but for some reason i can't connect to my new website, www.potentiamedia.com. I have tried potentiamedia.com, ftp.potentiamedia.com, and a few other things as the host name but nothing works. it either says i have a syntax error, the connection timed out, or that the host name doesn't exist.

my fetch is already in passive mode and i assume it isn't a problem with the firewall...what could it be?

    thank you!

What FTP server hostname does the web service provider say you should connect to (in order to upload content for www.potentiamedia.com)? Could you post the contents of the Fetch Transcript window (which you can open from the Windows menu) after trying what they suggest?

    Thanks,

it says to just use potentiamedia.com because that's what they use with smartftp. when i called and asked them, they weren't familiar with fetch and didn't think i needed to use a different hostname than what they gave me. they also told me to enter the username with "%potentiamedia.com" after it. When I tried what they suggested, it either said "syntax error," or "can't open data connection" when I put in the "%potentiamedia" thing. what should i be putting in those two fields?

Could you choose "Fetch Transcript" from the Window menu after you see an error and post the contents of that window here? That information may contain clues to what is going wrong.

    Thanks,
