Can "see" old mac from modern with 11.4 Mac with browse, but can't connect to it. Likewise, I cannot connect to old Mac thru Fetch. Have downloaded old Fetch file install 4.3 (I think) but have now way to get it on Old mac. Incompat with modern CD and no way to connect. Need connection badly.

    Hi,

What do you hope to use Fetch for on the old Mac?

    Thanks,

The old Mac operates a Colorgetter drum scanner which cannot be run by anything newer than 9.2. Controller for Old Mac is Dell box connected to 9.2 Mac. I just need to get the scan file which gets saved on desktop old Mac.

    Hi,

I would Google "transfer files to classic Mac" for more ideas on how to get files onto your old Mac.

    Thanks,

I need the files FROM the old Mac NOT to it. Easy to see the files on old Mac that the Scanner Makes.

Is it not possible to install Fetch 4.3 somehow on the old computer to transfer TO the modern Mac?

    Hi,

The first step is getting a copy of Fetch onto the old Mac, so you can use it to move files off the old Mac. Do you have a USB CD-ROM burner that you could use to burn a CD-R with Fetch 4.0.3, and then attach to the old Mac?

    Thanks,

The beige old mac has a CD reader but can't seem to recognize a blank CDR. Do have USB CD burner from modern Mac and have downloaded it. Will burn download to CD and then try that in old mac to see if recognized when CDR has content. Thanks so much for help

Cleaned up and fixed, best I could figure out, and newest Fetch simply worked. Key was (maybe) substituting address in blank asking for name of computer to connect to when setting up Fetch connection. Just FYI and may help someone else with same problem J Vee
