My sister is trying to get and send files from my FTP site to and from her Mac. We had trouble today with her Norton Firewall until she entered my IP address as a trusted site in Norton. That solved her upload problem. But now she can't get a file listing with Fetch. This is bizarre, since it was working this morning. I had her send me the contents of the Fetch Transcript window (with the IP addrs XX'ed out)

She says the "dog just runs and runs", whatever that means...

The logs on my end look like this:

    03:52:11 XXXX [19]USER cindy 33
    03:52:11 XXXX [19]PASS - 230
    04:02:34 XXXX [19]ABORT - 225
    04:02:43 XXXX [19]ABORT - 225
    04:02:45 XXXX [19]QUIT - 225

I had her fiddle with Passive Mode on and off, but that made no difference.

    I'm clueless at this point.

    Thanks
    Jeff

i can't really help, but i've been having the same problem so i can at least sympathize. has your sister installed SecurityUpd2003-03-24.dmg.bin? that seems to be when my problems began. and others at apple discussions began having problems after this update was installed. by changing preferences->sharing->services to allow ftp access i've managed to use ftp from a shell, but it doesn't seem to make any difference for fetch.

Could you post the transcript with PASV checked? Also, can your sister connect to ftp.fetchsoftworks.com (leave the User ID and Password fields blank) with PASV on or off?

    Thanks,

She also says that today she can get the file listing from my site in passive mode.

"With PASV checked, I can now get to your site and see files. Here's the
transcript, in case you're curious. Don't know why it works now and not last
    night.

Anyway, I guess she's not stuck any more.
