You might try choosing "Preferences..." from the Customize menu in Fetch, clicking on the Firewall tab, and unchecking the "Use passive mode transfers (PASV)" checkbox. If that does not help please post a new transcript after you get an error.

I am able to get to my folder where I store picts for ebay usage, then I get the message (can't open data connection) and the window stays blank.
I am including the transcript from fetch.
