If checking "Use passive mode transfers (PASV)" in the Firewall section of Fetch Preferences (not System Preferences) does not help, I would recommend unchecking that box and (if you are on OS X) making sure that the OS X firewall is turned off. To do that, choose "System Preferences..." from the Apple menu, click on the Sharing panel, then on the Firewall tab, and make sure the button says "Start" (if it says "Stop" click the button to stop the firewall). Then try making a new connection with Fetch.
If that does not help I would try connecting to ftp.fetchsoftworks.com (leave the User ID and Password fields blank), with PASV on and with it off. Does either work?
Thanks,
Jim Matthews

I cannot connect, keep getting the error message "can't open data stream". I have tried unchecking PASV in firewall preferences. Help!
