I would change the setting of the "Use passive mode transfers (PASV)" checkbox in the Firewall section of Fetch Preferences. If that does not help, I would choose "Fetch Transcript" from the Window menu after you see the error and post the contents of that window.
Thanks,
Jim Matthews

texelseboys: It looks like that server does not support passive mode. Could you post a transcript after unchecking "Use passive mode transfers (PASV)" in Fetch Preferences?
Thanks,
Jim Matthews

with passive mode on for the texelse boys server, i have a connection, but the dog keeps running without listing the files on the server. all and all kinda annoying, coz this is a projectwebsite, texelseboys.nl, and we need to update the website with news and all.

texelseboys: Has FTP ever worked from this Mac to these servers? It looks like the server is behind a firewall that is blocking passive mode, and that your router is not properly handling non-passive mode.
Thanks,
Jim Matthews

Just started designing a website for a friend...my first official website. I used fetch to upload the initial "construction page.", put the files into the system etc. Now when I try to get back on it says "Server response: can't open data connection" It apparently connects but I can't see or get into any files. I called the host, they don't think it a problem on their end, he said it might be fetch unable to read the documents. Is this possible? I am using a G3 mac and Internet Explorer 5. Please advise.
