I just downloaded Fetch 5.3 (for which I have a license). Upon opening the program, I get a message that says my system will not open the program because it was downloaded from the internet - AND - it's not listed on the App Store.

Has anyone encountered this??? If so, what to do???

    Hi,

In Mac OS X 10.8 Apple introduced a new feature called Gatekeeper. By default, Gatekeeper keeps you from opening applications downloaded from the Internet unless they come from the App Store or are signed by an identified developer.

Since then Fetch releases have been signed, and they open without incident. But older versions of Fetch that came out before 10.8 -- like the copy of Fetch 5.3.1 that you downloaded -- are not signed, because they came out before Gatekeeper existed.

You can still open your copy of Fetch 5.3.1 by Control-clicking on it and choosing Open from the menu that appears. You will then see a dialog that asks you if you really want to open this application from an "unidentified" developer. If you say yes, the application will open, and you won't be asked again.

    Thanks,
