Can't save edited HTML files. (5 posts)

    Just upgraded to v.5.

    One of the new features seems to be the capability to
    edit HTML directly in Fetch, one of the reasons I went for upgrade.
    I open the file in textWrangler,
    make the changes, save, close the file.
    When I reopen the same file, the changes are not there any longer, as if SAVE was ignored.

    Missing something?

    You should be able to use Fetch 5's Edit command to have HTML files saved back to the server when you save them in TextWrangler. Here are the steps to follow to make sure that happens:

    * Select an HTML file
    * Click the Get Info button, or choose Remote > Get Info from the menu
    * Click the triangle next to "Transfer Options" to display the Transfer Options pane
    * Choose "TextWrangler" from the "Edit files like this with" pop-up menu in the Transfer Options
    * Close the info window

    You only have to do the above steps once to setup TextWranger as your editor of choice for HTML files.

    Then to Edit an HTML file, select it, click the Edit button (or choose Remote > Edit from the menus). The file should open in TextWrangler, and when you save it in TextWrangler, your changes should be uploaded to the server.

    Let us know if this does not fix the problem.

    Thanks,

    Thank you, Scott

    TextWrangler WAS selected as the text editing tool in the
    Transfer Options panel.
    The problem persists. If I download the HTML doc. on the desktop, open it and edit in TWrangler, and upload back in Fetch to replace the old file, the changes are there, of course.
    Not when I use TW within Fetch. Fetch ignores the changes. I tryied Refresh a couple of times with no result.

    Is it possible that you have two copies of Fetch running? When that's the case BBEdit and TextWrangler often tell the wrong copy of Fetch to upload the file, with the result that it is not uploaded. We've asked Bare Bones to fix the problem, but so far that hasn't happened.

    Thanks,

    Yes, that was the problem.
    I had the previous Fetch version on the desktop ( on its way to trash) and as soon as I got rid of that, edit HTM
    uploads to server.

    Very nice touch.

    Thank you very much indeed,
