Do I have to remove spaces and Upper case in iWeb file names. What are the effects on the transfer?
Some server techs want lower case with no spaces.

    Hi,

You do not have to remove spaces and uppercase letters in iWeb filenames unless you know that your server has a problem with them.

It's true that some servers have problems with spaces in filenames, although many do not care if you have spaces or not. Most servers should be able to handle uppercase characters, and I wouldn't worry about that.

Unfortunately, the only way to avoid spaces and uppercase in iWeb is to name your webpages in iWeb without spaces or uppercase letters.

That is, in the "Site Organizer" sidebar, you have to rename all your pages to not use spaces or uppercase characters. (Instead of spaces, you could use underscores or hypens.)

You should not rename the files after you use the "Publish to Folder" command in iWeb, because that will break all the links in your website. You have to start with the names you need in iWeb.

It's unfortunate that iWeb doesn't handle this problem better.

Let us know if this doesn't answer your questions.

    Thanks,

    Scott McGuire
