Hi,
The transcript shows you trying to connect to the server with the address "192.168.1.6". That's a local, private address. Is the server computer on the same network as your Mac? E.g. is it another computer in your office?
Thanks,
Jim Matthews

I got an error message when I tried to connect to one server. Other servers works just fine.
Here is the Fetch Transcript:
Fetch 5.6 (5F64) Intel running on Mac OS X 10.7.4 (11E53) Intel English
StuffIt Engine 0x820, StuffIt SDK Version 10.1.1b1
Partial serial FETCHED001-N5VE-EG66 T
Connecting to www.connollysuthers.com.au port 21 (Mac OS X firewall is allowing connections) (10/3/55 BE 2:03 PM)
An FTP connection to “www.connollysuthers.com.au” could not be opened because the connection timed out. (There might be a problem with your network, or the server might not be responding.)Thank you

As the error message suggests, it looks like that server is not responding. I would contact the server administrators for help.

Hi,
What did the server administrator (the people who run www.connollysuthers.com.au) say?

He said all the ftp info that he gave me is all correct.

You should tell him that the server at the hostname "www.connollysuthers.com.au " is not responding to FTP connection attempts, either from you or from me. They need to fix that on their end.
Thanks,

Hi Jim,
I've already talked to my head programmer in another office, he shown his screenshot that he can connect to the server normally without any errors. Do you have more suggestion about this? Thanks
-
Jim Matthews Administrator
I still can't connect to www.connollysuthers.com.au . When a server is accepting connections from some clients, and not from others, it's generally a problem with the server or its network connection.
What program is the head programmer using to connect?

They use Filezilla. I also tried it too, but it has the same error with Fetch also.

If you can't connect using either Fetch or FileZilla, and I can't connect (from a totally different part of the Internet) using multiple FTP clients, I think it's safe to say that there's a problem on the server end.

I am the administrator of our FTP server and I am aware of the issue some of my costumers have with Fetch. While CyberDuck and Transmit features a preferences where you can modify the connection delay, Fetch seems to be hard coded with a way too short connection delay so it fails systematically. -

That's very interesting. What do you need the timeout to be to work with your server?

I came up with this since some customers went from Transmit 3 to Transmit 4 and was stumped that T4 have this connection time out. T4 install by default a delay of 20 sec. Changing it to 100 sec. worked well. 60 sec too but failed on one or two occasion. I know we have an old linux FTP server but the rate data transfert is good once connected. I have a couple of them using Fetch and I cant suggest them to raise the delay in the prefs because it is not available. I would greatly appreciate if you found a workaround for this. Thanks.

Hi,
Fetch does have hidden settings for this sort of thing. See my response in the other thread:

Hi Jim,
I tried to download some script manager from google chrome store but it'll tell me "net::ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT" after awhile.
Can you tell me how to fix this?Thank You

Hi,
This is a support forum for Fetch, a Mac FTP client. If you have a problem with an app from the Google Chrome store you should contact the creator of that app.
Thanks,

Hi,
That sounds like an issue with your router or Internet service. I would recommend contacting the service provider again.

I just got Fetch, and I'm attempting to connect to a server. I'm new to fetch so I don't know much about it, but apparently neither does my boss who told me to use it. haha
It's throwing a connection time out every time I try to connect.
I've restarted my computer and dropped the fire wall. Is this a problem on my end or does it have something to do with their server?
