Consistent timeout/reset errors at 10 min (3 posts)

Running Fetch 5.2 on a PowerBookG4 and iMacG5 both OS 10.4.9 & all updates. Connected via SprintBroadband (Wireless based - 220 KB/s down, 20 KB/s up) via Airport Extreme - base station v5.6. Attempting to mirror from a Windows shared server = ~500 MB and ~12k files. I've been getting a consistent error message from Fetch that the "server shut down" or "connection was reset" after exactly 10 minutes. Hosting company says no limits on their end. Tried going direct ethernet (Airport off). Turned firewall off. Left firewall on but enabled FTP service/firewall. Tried both PASV on and off. Turned UDP block and stealth mode off. Finally the host said try a Terminal FTP. Am doing that with a single large file and it seems to work. Upload is running now well beyond 10 min and I suspect the download will do the same. Sounds like a Fetch problem. Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Steve

PS - If you'd like a transcript please let me know the config (Fetch & Network settings) you'd prefer. Thanks

    PPS - The download worked - 11min 11sec

    Hi Steve,

Your last PPS says "the download worked" - does that mean you finally got the download to succeed in Fetch? And if so, did you do something different?

If the download of a single large file worked in Terminal, could you try downloading the single large file in Fetch and seeing if that works? And if not, please post the transcript if it fails.

The settings I would try for testing would be:

PASV on (in Fetch), firewall off, and connected directly by Ethernet

    Thanks,

    Hi,

Thanks for your help and sorry for the confusion. I was referring to the Terminal FTP that was in progress when I wrote the original message. I have not solved the problem I was having with Fetch.

I have not tried the single file download with Fetch but will do that now and Post results. After that I'll try the mirror session per your request.

    Thanks again,
    Steve
