Hi,
You must still have a copy of Fetch 5.0.4 on your hard drive some place. Fetch gets the information for the FTP and SFTP helpers from the Mac OS, and the Mac OS is not very good at distinguishing between multiple copies of the same application. As you've noticed, it will often just report a random version even after you point it at the correct version.
Hopefully the correct version of Fetch (version 5.0.5) is being opened when you click on ftp and sftp URLs despite what the preference says. If not, you should find the copy of Fetch 5.0.4 and archive it or stuff it to hide it from the Mac OS.
Thanks,
Scott McGuire

Not a big problem, but just noticed that the 5.0.5 prefs still show 5.0.4 as my Default apps for FTP/SGTP. Even selecting the pop up menu and choosing 5.0.5 doesn't show the change.
Who cares? ;-)
