I have noticed that Fetch only seems to list the first 2000 files in a directory - am I right? Was looking at a folder yesterday and wondering why the latest files uploaded were not showing up. Seems like only the first 2000 show (when listed in alphabetical order with filename beginning with capital letters listed first).
Well, maybe this is not the right explanation, but when I look at the verbose file list, only 2000 items are there.
My problem is that I was looking for a newly uploaded file in a media folder. It was uploaded via Wordpress media manager on to the server and wordpress could see it just fine. When I looked for it with Fetch, to check the file size, it was not there. I checked with the online file manager via cpanel, and it is there, but Fetch cannot see it.

    Hi Steve,

Actually, Fetch has no limits on the number of files it will list. We regularly test it at listing directories with 10,000 or more files in them.

The problem is that some servers only send the first 2000 files to FTP clients, and it sounds like your server is one of those. The verbose file list is an exact representation of what the server sent to Fetch when Fetch asked the server to list all the files - even though Fetch asked for all the files, the server replied with only the first 2000. Fetch cannot list the files if the server doesn't send it a complete list.

The server uses different software to communicate with cpanel than it does to communicate with FTP clients such as Fetch, which is why you see a difference in behavior between cpanel and Fetch.

Unfortunately the only solution is to contact the people who run the server and complain about the limitation and ask them to use better FTP server software.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

    Thanks,
