Does Fetch work on all sites accessible by IE5 FTP? (3 posts)

The first thing I'd try is changing the setting of the "Use passive mode transfers (PASV)" checkbox in the Firewall section of Preferences. Some servers are only accessible with one of the two possible settings.
Thanks,

Thanks for tip about preferences, security, passive option.
I have a correction and some more news.
First, clarification: IE5.2.3 for Mac allows FTP download, but not FTP uplead. At least, that's how it works for me. Not much info on this.
Secondly, news: after several days of my grumbling, my small company techno, overnight, has apparently modified their FTP site, so that Fetch works perfectly for me, i.e. as usual.
After whatever change was made at their end, I checked whether the security passive option makes any difference. No difference for this site. Both security passive options keep Fetch working.
So I'm running fine.

Fetch doesn't work to access an FTP site that I can access using Explorer's FTP feature.
I use Fetch 4.0.3 routinely to several sites with automatic default settings, OS X. A small business owner gives me FTP access with Internet Explorer 5.2.3 with company username and password. I enter "ftp://<user>:<password>@<site>" into IE5 location, and FTP drag-drop works. Fetch will connect with this site with the running dog, but does not allow me to proceed from there.
Should I be able to upload and download files to any site that allows this through IE5.? I'd much rather use Fetch.
