I've seen a couple of reports of that problem, and in both cases it turned out that the server was not Y2K compliant. Could you post the contents of the Fetch Transcript window after you download a file and it is assigned that modification date? I'm specifically interested in the response to the MDTM command.
Thanks,
Jim Matthews

Here's the problem:
MDTM iftout
213 191010705163948That long number is supposed to be a date and time, in the format YYYYMMDDHHMMSS. But instead of starting 2001 it starts 19101, because of a Y2K bug in the server.
I will make changes to Fetch so that it will ignore bogus dates like this in the next release. In the meantime the solution is to update the server software to a version that is Y2K compliant.

With Fetch 4.0, I downloaded a file from a remote server to my Macintosh. The "Date Modified" in the Finder window shows "Fri, Jan 1, 1904, 12:00 AM". How can I get it to show either the date and time of download, or the date and time it originally had on the server?
