In previous versions of Fetch, if you did a command-J on a text file it would just open in BBEdit (assuming you had BBEdit set as your preferred editor).

But in this new version, each and every single time I open a file to edit from the server using command-J, it asks me if I want to use BBEdit or Photoshop. In the document "kind" column in the Fetch window, it already knows it's a BBEdit document, so why in the world would it ask me each time if I wanted to open it in Photoshop or not?

I can't tell you how irritating this is to have it happen every single time. I use the command-J function for text files dozens or even hundreds of times per day. Please at least make a preference so that we can turn it off, or at very least have it remember for a given file, which you chose the first time, or better yet, have it just do what is right based on the document "kind" if it can, since it knows that already, in at least some cases.

    Thanks!

You should be able to fix this problem by following these steps:

    1) Select one of the files in question.
    2) Click Get Info
    3) Set the Edit with pop-up menu to BBEdit

Please let me know if that does not work.

    Thanks,

Thanks, good suggestion. But BBEdit isn't selectable in that list. There's an old Classic version which is there, but not the one I need. Some others appear there, but not BBEdit 8.

Followup - selecting the old BBEdit icon does seem to work, though...
