I have a file in my Fetch cache that I don't recognize. It's named :23:02 and its size is 224K. It's about 6 months old. When I try to delete or rename it I get the message "Server file error: :23:02: No such file or directory"
How do I get rid of it?

If you choose "Refresh File List" from the Directories menu do you still see the file? Can you post the contents of the Fetch Transcript window after you try to delete it?

    Thanks,

Thanks very much for replying. When I refresh the window the file continues to appear (the date on it is 11/18/03). Here's what the Fetch Transcript says after I tried to delete it again now:

    DELE :23:02
550 :23:02: No such file or directory.
    ftp_delete or ftp_rmdir: -30006
    PWD
    257 "/hmt/skol/u/4/j/jo2" is current directory.

Could you choose "View File List" from the Remote menu and post the ":23:02" line from the file list? It's strange that the server tells Fetch about this file but then claims it doesn't exist.

    Thanks,

    Dear Jim,
I've discovered that ":23:02" doesn't appear in the file list, but instead this does:
    -rw------- 1 d11000 228864 Aug 27 2002 Book Text Draft 8:23:02
It's alphabetized as "Book Text Draft" in the file list, but doesn't appear anywhere in the cache, so it looks like ":23:02" may be a corruption of this file (although the dates don't match: the date of the file in the cache is 11/18/03; the date of the file in the file list is 8/27/02). Is there any other way to delete this item from the cache? As I said before, I can't delete it OR rename it using the command in the "Remote" menu.
    Thx again!

I would choose "Delete file or directory..." from the Remote menu when nothing is selected in the file list. Fetch will ask you for the name of the file to delete, and you should enter "Book Text Draft 8:23:02". Does that work?

    Thanks,
