I get this error when attempting to get or put. For instance, I tried to put a .doc file on a site and got error number -1. When I tried again immediately, it worked. Then when I tried to get the file... I got error number -1 again.

Fetch 4.0.2 has some bugs in its SOCKS support. If you send an email to support@fetchsoftworks.com I'll send you a test release of Fetch that fixes these bugs, and hopefully works better. Please mention that you are running Mac OS 9.

    Thanks,

I'm also having intermitent connection issues. At times I can make a connection and others I can't.

    - I'm testing this on multiple ftp sites.
    - At times Passive is checked in order to make a connections, others times not checked!

I'd like to stabilize this so I don't have to switch back and forth between passive and also to have a successful connection.

I am using Fetch 4.0.3 and an SOCK4 proxy server.

In addition to Error Number -1 I also get:
    - Error: the connection timed out
    - Error: he file transfer server has shut down
    - Server response: Connection closed;transfer aborted
    - Server response: Can't open data connection

    Any suggestions is appreciated.

Could you post a transcript from an unsuccessful attempt with PASV enabled?

    Thanks,

    Jim,
Can't find a way to generate a transcript. Can you tell me how this gets done.

I haven't had a chance to look at this lately. Today I did more testing and PASSIVE mode worked just fine and having it checked off didn't work for most of my test sites.

I'm testing on OS 9.2.2 using Fetch 4.0.3
    Thanx
