I keep getting the following error:
Error: the server dropped the connectio (it may be too busy)
I'm on a G4, fetch 4.0. I have been able to log into this fpt before. i can log into this fpt from other computers on this network. I can log into other ftp sites from this machine, just this one particular ftp site will not let me get in even though I have in the past. It is my own ftp!!??

What are the contents of the Fetch Transcript window after you get the error? Choose "Fetch Transcript" from the Window menu to reveal that window.

I have had the same problem as reported by jsharrow. My transcript reads as follows:

    System Version = 0x904
    Connecting to grace.speakeasy.org port 21 (11/11/01 5:37:43 PM)
220 Welcome to Grace.speakeasy.net FTPd Service
    ADAT
421 This is a private system - No anonymous login
    USER rbrandes
It looks as though the system thinks that I'm atempting an anonymous login, even though I have specified a user id.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    John

    jsharrow:

I don't have any trouble connecting to ftp.thedesignlab.com with Fetch, so I'm puzzled. Are you still seeing the problem?

    jwrca:

It looks like the server is responding to the ADAT command incorrectly. You can work around this problem by running this AppleScript once:

    tell application "Fetch 4.0.1"
set dont send ADAT to true
    end tell

    Thanks,

I tried to run the script given and had no luck. Maybe I did it wrong? I opened the script editor, pasted the script into the field below the buttons and clicked on run. When I went to save the script I got a message telling me the script could not be compiled and could only be saved as text. I still cannot log into ftp.thedesignlab.com from this workstation.

What error message do you get when you press the "Check Syntax" button?
