I would like to support other external editors, but I haven't figured out the user interface. If nothing else it should be possible to change the editor in 4.0 with an AppleScript.
I agree that it should be possible to download without cookies; I will make sure this is possible for 4.0.
I never install to the root folder of my hard drive either. You can choose a folder by clicking the volume pop-up menu; it isn't obvious, and you have to remember to do it, but it works. You might send your feedback about this to MindVision, which makes Installer VISE.
Thanks for the feedback!

1. The external editor feature is a nice feature included in most modern FTP applications.
see http://www.merzwaren.com/external_editor.html
Fetch 4 apparently includes this feature, yet it is limited only to BBEdit. I do not wish to use BBEdit as my external editor, thus, i will not be using Fetch 4 until it implments the External Editor protocol for my chosen text editor.
2. Having to turn on cookies just to download the beta sucks.
3. I hate installers that put the app at the root level of my hard drive. Please ask me where i want to put it.
