Feature requests (8 posts)

    Hello,

I'm really happy with Fetch but there are just a couple of feature requests that would just make it a bit faster to use.

    1) Cmd-DownArrow to go into folders takes my fingers off the home keys so if Cmd-] (the opposite of back: Cmd-[ ) could be used to go into folders that would allow me to keep my fingers on the home keys when navigating.

    2) The hostname is what is put in the title bar of windows, could that be changed to instead be the title of the bookmark?

Thanks again for bringing Fetch to OSX, it saves me so much time and these couple of items will just add to my time savings.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Thanks for the suggestions. We may reserve Cmd-] for Forward, since we're thinking of adding a Forward button. But I would like to come up with an easier way to enter folders from the keyboard.

I'll think about your window title suggestion as well.

    Thanks,

Please add the forward button in your next release. I was disappointed not to see it in 5.2.

    Thanks!

    Hi capellic,

Sorry it didn't get into 5.2. Thanks for the feedback!

Actually the bigger problem for me is the hostname being put in the title bars. The reason it's so bad for me is that I have multiple sites on one server but only one IP is opened up for SFTP access. So, every window has the same hostname, I have to constantly check the path to see what site I'm in. If instead, the title of the bookmark was in the title bar, I'd always know what site I was in when I'm uploading.

I really hope you would consider making this change, it's truly the only thing that I don't like about Fetch.

    Thanks,
    Mark

    Hi Mark,

    Thanks for the additional feedback.

A question for you: what would you expect the title bar to display if you changed to a different path, such that the path being displayed in the transfer window no longer matched the one in the shortcut?

    Thanks,

It'd continue to work exactly as it is now. the only thing that would be replaced would be the server name:

For example, right now let's say I have a server at mydomain.com but I have two logins for this domain, so I title the first shortcut "live" and I title the second shortcut as "preview"

So, in the title bar, with the current version it'd have:

    mydomain.com - /path/to/wherever for both shortcuts

But if instead it used the title of the shortcuts, I'd have

    live - /path/to/wherever

    and

    preview - /path/to/wherever

depending on which shortcut I'm using.

    Hope that clarifies it.

    Thanks,

    Mark
